今回の演奏は、一拍子から始まり、それをずらしていく取り決めを、合奏の共通項としています。

Our show this time starts with “one-beat”, and we make an arrangement of shifting from it to “staggered” rhythm our common term of collaboration.

 

• ‘ Ferry boat ‘

バス・ドラムは最も基本的なオンタイムの一拍子を、一つのコードにつき、４×２回刻みます。

ベースはひとりがギターのようにコードを押さえ、もうひとりがドラムのスティックのようなもので弦を叩きます。

これは船のボイラーを表しています。

楽譜の読める人、あるいは覚えられる人は、メロディーを繰り返し演奏します。

それ以外の人は、進んでいく船を取り巻く環境音 の中からひとつを選び取り、それを演奏します。例えば

・カモメ

・イルカ

・クジラ

・風

・客室

・福島から流れ着いた放射性物質

・難民船

・潜水艦

・氷山

・魚

・アザラシ

などです。

 

Bass drum make the most essential ‘on-time’1 beat, 4×2 times per one chord.

As for bass guitar, one plays chords like playing the guitar, and the other hits the strings of the bass guitar with a drum stick.

This expresses the sound of the boiler of a ship.

Those who can read the scores and who can learn the melody will play it repeatedly.

 

Others choose one of the surrounding sounds like;

・seagulls

・dolphins

・whale

・the wind

・passenger’s cabin

・radio active debris from Fukushima

・refugee ship

・submarines

・an iceberg

・fish

・seals

 

• ‘ Honey ‘

 

前半は一拍子ですが、すべて遅れます。頭の中では遅れてはいませんが、実際の音はすべて遅れます。

途中からオンタイムになります。

The first half is “1 beat”, but everything delays each time. It’s not delayed inside our heads, but all actual tones delay. It will become ‘arriving on time’  punctually half way through.

こんな上の地層から言葉を出すなんて

sending out words from such an upper layer

 

it’s the taste of honey

 

最初、ベースのルート音が分かる人はそれをリズムに合わせて演奏します。

途中、オンタイムになったら、コードに合わせて自由に演奏します。

ベースソロになったら、低音以外の人はインプロヴィゼーションです。

最初に戻り、繰り返して終わります。

 

At first those of you who understand the root tone, will play it according　to the rhythm.

And when the rhythm becomes ‘on time’, we will play freely according　to the chords.

During the bass solo, all except bass parts will improvise.

Then back to the first part , repeat it and finish.

 

• ‘ Swing back ‘

これはフューネラル・マーチのリズムで、二拍目と四拍目がふわっと遅れます。

通常は左手で一拍目を、皮に直角に打ち下ろすようにオンタイムで叩き、二拍目を、円を描くように叩くことで遅れを生じさせます。

これは、その「ずらし」を極端に意識的に行うことで、演奏を辺境のロック史のなかに位置づけようとするものです。

 

This is the rhythm of funeral march and the 2nd and the 4th beat delays softly.

 

Usually the drummer makes the first beat by striking the drum skin vertically on time with left hand, and the second beat with circling gesture, this  makes delay.

 

This is an attempt to locate the performance at the border of the ”history of rock” by creating the time lapse consciously.

ドラムは一拍子を、一つのコードにつき、４×２回刻みますが、二拍目が少し前倒しになっており、四拍目は少し後ろにずれています。一拍目と三拍目は厳密にオンタイムです。四拍目の前に息を吐き切るのがコツです。それによって、針が布を縫うような表と裏の流れが生まれます。One will play the drum and 4×2 times per one chord, but the second beat will lean forward and the 4th beat lapses backwards. The 1st and the 3rd beat are strictly on time. The knack is to exhale the breath thoroughly before the 4th beat.

メロディーは三つの連に分かれています。歌える人は、三つの合唱隊に分かれて、それを順番に歌います。

歌わない人は、リズムを演奏します。音程の選び方は自由です。

Melody is divided into 3 lines. Those of you who can sing will be 3 chorus part and will sing in turn.

 

Those of you who don’t sing will play the rhythm. You can choose any tones freely.

大きく分けて、

・このリズムが体に入っている人

・入っていない人

を想定します

 

次に、その中でも

・五線譜を読める人

・読めない人

がいるので、都合4つのスコアを用意します。

 

リズムが分かって楽譜が読める人でしかもそれを低音で演奏できる人は最初に揚げたベースラインを担当し、高音で演奏できる人には譜面のメロディーを好きな場所で演奏してもらいます。

 

リズムが分かってでも楽譜は読めない人は打楽器的なものを担当します。

 

リズムが体に入っていない人は、楽譜が読めても読めなくても、夜道ですので

・カエル

・虫の声

・人の家から漏れてくる音

・夜汽車

・酔っぱらいが吐く音

・店先のノイズ

・パトカー

などになって演奏します

 

夜道ですので、僕は途中でラウンドミッドナイトを弾くかもしれません

 

舞踏で参加する人は、目隠しをしてベースを演奏しながら歩いている人の後ろについていきます。

目隠しして歩きながら演奏するのは低音のベースラインの人だけです。

 

最後に、夜道を終わらせるために、800倍遅くした例の虫の合唱に移行して終わりたいと思います。

 

演奏できるのは楽譜が読める人か、読めなくても覚えた人に限ります。パターンを覚えれば簡単なので、声で付いてくることは出来ると思います。

 

それも難しい人は、項垂れて、「虫の声を聴く人間」の役を演じます。でも音痴な虫も混じっていてもいいので、なるべく虫をおすすめします。

 

to sort it roughly, there are two groups of people;

 

・the ones who have this rhythm within them

・the ones who do not have this rhythm within them

 

and each group divided into two groups,

 

namely:

 

・the ones who reads scores

・the ones who don’t read scores

 

so there are 4 groups altogether, scores are prepared for each group

 

the ones who understand the rhythm and read scores and are able to play lower keys will play bass line which will be shown firsthand,

and those of them who can play higher notes will play the melody wherever they choose.

 

those who understand the rhythm but do not read scores will play rhythm.

 

Those of them who don’t have this rhythm within them ,whether they read scores or not,will play the sound of;

 

・ frogs

・ grasshoppers

・ the noise from houses

・ night train

・ drunkard vomiting

・ the noise from stores

・ the siren of the police car

 

as it’s a street at night. I might play ‘ round midnight ‘ in between  on the piano.

 

the ones who participate with their dancing will follow the ones who play bass line,while they are walking blindfolded.

 

It is only these ones plyaing bass line who walk blindfolded.

 

And at last, to terminate the street at night, we will finish by moving on to “800x delayed sound of the grasshoppers”.

 

Only those who reads the scores or who learned the melody by heart will play this part. It’s  not so difficult if you remember the pattern so you can also join by singing.

 

If even this seems difficult, you have roll as “the ones who hear the grasshoppers’ sound” with their heads down, but I recommend you’d rather be grasshoppers as there must be grasshoppers out of tune.

 

• The 7th tune ‘a boogie’

 

基本的にブギーのリズムですが、ギターの音の立ち上がりに四種類あります。

・人間　　　オンタイムだがふわっと弾く

・ライオン　オンタイムでダウンストロークで一気にジャッジするように弾く　

・雄牛　　　親指で低音から押し出すように力強く弾き、手のひらで止める

・鷲　　　　オンタイムよりやや早めに、高音域をアッパーストロークで短く切って弾く　

です。

鷲は知恵を表します。

 

Basically it’s the rhythm of the blues, but there are 4 different kinds of waveform when starting to play the guitar;

 

man :   starting on time,but softly

lion :    starting on time with down stroke,at once, judgingly

bull :    pushing the strings strongly with a thumb and stop with a palm

eagle:  a bit faster than being on time, play upper tones with short cutting stroke

ポートランドで１ドルで買ったzine。汚い言葉を使うまいと決意したデイブ君は、一月一日から、そういう言葉を吐いてしまった時刻と理由を記録しはじめるが・・。後半は打って変わって学術的な分析に当てられているのもクール。

今治タオルalter/nativeというブランドを考えた。

コピーは、

「雑巾にも布巾にも使える」

「砥部焼とは何か」という展示の企画を考えた。

サブタイトルは

「Tobe, or not Tobe ： that is the question」

「難波アートベアーズ」という「十二球団」系の企画モノを考えた。

ガンバとは足という意味だと聞いて、倉本君主催の、復興の足を引っ張る情けない素人古楽演奏会を考えた。タイトルは「ヴィオラ・ダ・ガンバれ日本」

楽譜には音符がなくて、「明日から頑張ろうと言い続けて死ぬ」などという指示が書いてあるだけである。

水原拡張子という俳号を考えた。

誓子でも虚子でも良かったが、三文字なので。
